A useful brief is short. It is not a board of moods with a number tucked onto the last page.
It should name the business result, the people you need to move, the constraint that is real, and the thing you will not do. Taste can arrive later. The constraint cannot.
Bring the number you care about
A launch date. A sales floor. A cost you cannot cross. We can work with a rough number. We cannot work with “as much as possible.”
- The result you need, in one sentence
- Who has to notice, understand, or act
- The real constraint: time, budget, or approval
- What is out of scope
Then tell us who decides
Projects stall when the work is approved by a room that never appears in the brief. Name the person who can say yes, and the first conversation is already useful.
